That’s right, I’m sick of y’all. I’m sick of seeing and hearing about that Dove commercial that has y’all’s panties in a bunch and got you throwing out perfectly good hygiene products you desperately need. Have you even seen the full ad? Personally, I don’t have an issue with it.
I also am tide of y’all picking up a weekly cause, going hard for 168 hours, until y’all get tide of that cause and find a new cause. It’s just annoying TBH. Don’t believe me, let’s recount some of the great #BlackTwitter and #BlackInstagram (why is that not a thing yet) boycotts/protests of 2017:
- The NFL
- Dove
- (Atlanta) Houston’s – You can thank your urban dictionary-thumper Clifford Harris for this one
- Pepsi/Kendall Jenner
- ESPN (Jemele Hill)
Now, most of these (all but Dove and Houston’s) I can get behind, but the problem is we’re wearing ourselves thin. Every time a new thing pops up, we throw all of our attention to it and drop the previous thing. I can’t keep up yall. We can’t boycott everything at the same time. MLK ‘nem focused on the buses, then businesses and jobs, then economic justice. But now, everyone is all over the place. I blame social media.
Hell, Dove ain’t cheap and its gon’ take more than one of your fake social media boycotts to get me stop using it and (eating that delicious Hawaiian ribeye from Houston’s).
P.S. I really love Black people. Like a whole lot. Actually, most of my friends are Black.
