I saw a Black pilot in the airport today and watched him in amazement as he sipped his Jamba Juice. I can’t remember the last time I saw a Black pilot or if I’d ever seen one, actually. I’m not a frequent flier, but I’ve been on enough planes in the last 30 years, that I should have seen more people who look like me flying a plane. I’ve never seen a female pilot either.
Honestly, it’s no wonder why I haven’t seen more Black or women pilots in my lifetime, considering how our country is set up. Minorities and women have always gotten the short end of the stick (if we get any of the stick), but it still sucks.
As I took a visual survey of the people seated at the gate, I noticed there were two Black people, me and the pilot. I kept a watchful eye on him, in hopes that he’d take us to Boston, but I looked down to write for a second, and he was gone.
As I boarded my flight, I wondered where Bruh Pilot was flying tonight and hoped that someone else would see him and be as awe-inspired as I was.
