My best friend and I are throwing a Christmas brunch and needed a few items from Ikea. We decided to go tonight (Friday) to get it out the way and free up our weekend. I have a love-hate relationship with Ikea, I love all the stuff but I also hate all the stuff. There’s so much to look at that’s amazingly overwhelming. People and children are everywhere, in the way and getting on my nerves.
Tonight was different though, Ikea was the quietest I’ve ever seen it (and that says a lot because I’ve been to Ikea a lot), it was odd. In fact, the whole city was quiet, Walmart and Target too. Today was a pretty mild day for the first of December, maybe people were getting ready for a night out?
It’s funny, I thought I wanted Ikea all to myself but when I finally got it, it wasn’t what I expected. The thrill was gone, it just felt like one big warehouse with a bunch of stuff in it. Today’s lesson: be careful what you wish for, you may end up with an empty Ikea.
