Song of the Winter.

My best friend dubbed Lemon the song of the winter yesterday. I immediately laughed, but then immediately agreed with her. The song has been everywhere- radio, television, Serena Williams even did a little music video for it. But going back to my first reaction to my friend’s comment, why was it funny? Probably because we don’t usually have a song of the winter. Definitely a song of the summer, but not winter. Why does summer get to have all the fun?

I know winter is cold, the days are short and our skin is dry, but does that make it OK for the season to not have an unofficial anthem? I think not. We owe it to winter, ourselves and the six months we have until summer, to have a song to sing that will lift our frost-bitten spirits until warmer days return. So sing in y’all. Sing on.
