Wakanda Forever! {& head wrap inspo}

Y’all. Black Panther has changed my life. It was the most spectacular movie I’ve ever seen. It was more than a movie, it was an experience like no other. There was a sense of pride among us (Black folks) that beamed from the inside. And the fashions?! They were extra and I loved it all! But now that I’ve seen the film, I’m sad for two reasons: I can’t find a ticket to see it again this weekend and because I don’t know when there will be excitement around something that’s Black AF like this in the near future. For the first time since the Obama election(s), the vast majority of Black folks were excited about, rallied around and were hopeful about something that was Blackity, Black, Black! The past five or six years have been full of disappointment, heartbreak, and injustice for us– we needed Black Panther.

But why were we so excited about this film? Black people everywhere were excited because Black people everywhere had never seen a film like this before. We’ve never seen a film of this magnitude with us depicted in a way that was previously only reserved for white people. This movie is a game-changer. I really can’t say enough about this movie, my thoughts are all over the place. I think I need to sit with it for a while. If you’re reading this and don’t have plans to see Black Panther, please don’t play yourself. Stay woke and go.

Also, Chadwick Boseman is the Black Panther in real life to me now. His name is T’challa and he is my king. Because I’m a citizen of Wakanda.
