One More Day and it’s Over.

That’s what the lady at Delta check-in counter said to me today and for a few seconds, I didn’t hear anything else she said. The words kind of came out of her mouth and I watched them float away into nothing. I knew the end of the year was coming but for some reason when she uttered those words, I thought more deeply about it. Tomorrow is the last day of the year. Wow. The end of an entire year. As I’ve talked to people here and there the last few days, most have expressed how glad they are this year is ending. Like 2017 was a total shit show (it kinda was though lol). I get it, we had a crazy year politically and socially, but was your personal year– the one you lived day-to-day, really that bad?

Mine wasn’t, and as excited as I am to get this new year going, I think sometimes we’re in such a hurry to get on to the new year, that we don’t take time to reflect and learn from old one. What are you going to do differently next year? Will you carry the old habits into 2018? Probably. Look, a habit is a pattern, meaning you’re used to doing it. So don’t expect that when the clock strikes 12 on January 1, that you’ll miraculously be freed of your old ways. It’s hard to quit anything cold turkey. Give yourself some leeway to ease yourself out of the old, your change will likely be more permanent. OK that’s all I have today. Byeeeeee.
