That was for you social media world. You all played yourselves. I knew there was a reason I hadn’t watched that video of Keaton crying that’s been ALL over the internet machine the last few days. Truthfully, I didn’t watch because I wasn’t interested in seeing little baby crying and carrying on– things like that make me cringe. I got the gist of the video– he was being bullied and everybody and your favorites took a moment to bring light to the issue of bullying– which obviously is important. But, fast forward to today and mayneee (Terrance Howard voice), the proverbial funk has hit the fan.
Black Twitter and everybody else really, were mad today when we found out Keaton’s mom Kim is a racist. Like a confederate flag-toting racist. Betcha didn’t see that coming internet machine. Kim has allegedly criticized Colin Kaepernick for taking a stand against police brutality and shared accounts of Keaton being bullied because he used racial slurs at school. Well, that’s no surprise Kim. When you raise your child in an environment that teaches hate, those things tend to show up in places outside the home as well. This whole situation sucks because Keaton is still a child who’s been bullied and is a product of what he’s been taught, so we can’t really lay the blame on him. But, that still doesn’t make us feel better about the situation, how can we support the child without indirectly supporting his racist mother? A conundrum indeed.
